Steve Carter, Nick Wilson, Colin Rieser and Brendon Bigly of Escape Directors work flawlessly together on The Crowded Room to reignite any music lovers passion for powerfully melodic instrumentals and captivating story-driven lyrics.

The boys bring the powerful harmonies heard on their previous album, Ladders, and deliver a new direction of emotional appeal to their second record release, The Crowded Room , with an alternative rock resonance.

Spending a week away from their hometown in Bergen County, NJ, Escape Directors took a trip to Cleveland to work with one of indie rock’s most respected producers, Jim Wirt (Jack’s Mannequin,Incubus) to record and produce The Crowded Room.

Through the use of perfect harmonic timing, the band’s chemistry is clearly transcended into every track. Carter’s soothing vocals –reinforced by Wilson, Rieser and Bigly – will guide you through the experience of The Crowded Room, turning general topics such as love, youth and greed into an uncommonly insightful and personal understanding.

Every song off of the album captivates some sort of emotion. The second track,”Set Fire to a Crowded Room,” transcends a subtly dark tone with a gripping chorus: “I set fire to crowded room, and watched as it disappeared, I set fire to a crowded room and I can’t help but walk away.”

I had the pleasure of listening to this album live twice – once at their record release show at The Mexicali Live in Teaneck, NJ and again at Milkboy Coffee in Ardmore, PA. Witnessing the personal connection between the audience and their music, you would think Escape Directors had been around for decades. Their authenticity and honesty is part of the reason why they have built such a strong fan base in only a short amount of time.

The last track off of The Crowded Room, “Money Changes Everyone,” begins with soft  acoustics which slowly build into a powerful message bursting with energy. Carter sings with unfaltering sincerity: “money changes everyone someday…don’t let it change you.” While Wilson’s keyboard sets the powerful tone of “Money Changes Everyone,” the group undoubtably compliment each other as a whole.

The record is now available on Itunes . To preview full tracks and to see Escape Director’s recently released music videos for  “Set Fire to a Crowded Room” and “The Distant Past” check out
