Allen Stone Gets Nasty at World Cafe Live

Last week, I discovered Allen Stone; last weekend, all I listened to was Allen Stone; and on Monday, I went to see Allen Stone.
Allen Stone, hailing from Seattle, stopped by World Cafe Live in Philadelphia on Monday (Sep. 24th) and brought along Sister Sparrow & The Dirty Birds as well as Tingsek. The night was filled with funk and young soul. You’d expect an evening of soul jams to be for an older, “mature” audience. However, the room was full of college kids and young adults who got down the entire night.
Allen Stone played a little of soul, some RnB, a bit acoustic, and a LOT of funk. No matter the musical style, Stone emits a confidence that everything he plays is his own. The soul could be felt coming from his lungs. His passion for his music could not be overlooked and the passion of his band for his visions made it that much easier to get lost in their performance.
Allen Stone is one of those artists that make you feel more complete being a part of your life. I felt blessed that I was able to find his music and be able to see him live in such a short amount of time. Come back soon Allen – Ill be keeping track of your tour dates with hopes to see Philly on that list.
