Here at Tri State Indie, we champion those who chose a slightly different route. Those who go against the grain and do things their own way. There may be few musicians who embody this attitude more than Buffalo, NY native folk singer Ani DiFranco. After 20 years of refusing to sign with a record label and touring around the world, DiFranco has established herself among music fans with her ability to tell it like it is – as sweet as she may sound while doing so.

Her song writing, with themes ranging from political activism to love, both requited and unrequited, can put any audience in a tough situation, forcing them to decide whether they want to dance or listen closely, analyzing and looking for greater meaning. The Philly area is blessed to have such a gifted musician grace us with her presence, not once, but twice, if you are so inclined.
