The Best Show Ever… No Really, It Was An Amazing Show!
For the first time ever, Bonobo came to play in Philly and it was a sold out show! Thank God I got my tickets bout 3 weeks ago (literally the second I found out they were coming). At the time I was unsure whether it would be just a DJ set or live… [fingers crossed] Please be live, please be live, please be live!?! Walk in and look at stage… guitars, keyboards, drums, xylophone thingy… YES! It’s live!
The last time I saw Bonobo was at a ol’skool DC Armory party (we’ll say roughly 10 years ago… maybe more). That was with the whole Ninja Tune crew and it was just DJ sets (still awesome though). This time around, promoting his fourth album, Black Sands, Simon Green (Bonobo) brought the band. And all I’ve been able to say is “Amazing, amazing, amazing!” I was completely floored by how I was moved in hearing these tracks (mostly from Black Sands) played live. Simon moved around from controlling samples and xylophone, playing bass and on the last encore, playing the keys. But the nicest surprise and addition to the live show was singer, Andreya Triana. She is featured on the album (Black Sands) and to hear her live…. Can’t say it enough… Amazing! All around it was just a great show. What felt like minutes (and being over to fast) were actually just under 2 hours. There are still dates left on this tour! If he happens to be coming to your city, you must experience their performance. And if you can’t catch the show, go pick up, Black Sands, or any of Bonobo’s previous albums. I love them all.
