Last Friday night at The World Cafe in Philadelphia PA, Boris Garcia held it’s CD release party for the new album Today We Sail. This is their 4th record and it is the 2nd one that has been produced by Tim Carbone of Railroad Earth. Tim also sat in for the show this night.
By playing 2 sets the audience was able to hear all the songs from the new album. They even added a couple of surprises into the mix. They opened the 2nd set with “Crossing The Gap” that Tim Carbone wrote with Railroad Earth. Ending the 2 set with “I am the Walrus”. I have to say I did not see that one coming.
To describe the sounds of their new record, it covers a lot of ground -there is some jazz, rock, bluegrass, celtic, folk & add a hint of blues. Since they added steel guitar to the mix it almost gives them a New Riders of the Purple Sage sound. Being that this is a Philadelphia based band there will be plenty of chances to see them again soon.
