Bouncing Souls 'Home For The Holidays'

TSI_NEW_LOOK_LEADERBOARD

Monday night kicked off the Bouncing Souls 5th annual Home For The Holidays run of shows at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park. The New Jersey-based legendary punk crew have created a whole new tradition during the holidays–one specially dedicated to rock ‘n’ roll fans. The shows will continue tonight through Thursday (Dec 27-29) with a plethora of supporting acts  such as H20, Title Fight, The Explosion, The Holy Mess, Up For Nothing and local punk rockers, Blacktop Kids.

And recently The Souls announced (through an online video PSA) they’ll be hitting the studio and preparing for a “new album, new life and new tour.” I was able to talk with vocalist Greg Attonito and get the scoop on their highly anticipated new life.

TSI: This will be your 5th year playing Home For The Holidays. Do you see this “tradition” as something long-term for the group?
Greg: Yes, That was our intention from the beginning and its been a total success. So we are gonna keep it going!

TSI:What made you decide to host the holiday shows in Asbury Park instead of New Brunswick where The Souls got their start?
Greg:Asbury Park is our home base now and the Stone Pony is here! None of us have lived in New Brunswick for over 15 years I think. It had to be in Asbury Park

TSI: You recently posted a PSA telling us to expect a new album, new tour and a new life. When can we expect this new album out?
Greg: June is the plan. We just finalized 10 demos and we are ready for the studio! All the songs are sounding great!

TSI: As far as the writing process goes, what do you think will be different or the same from past albums?
Greg:We wrote everything without a producer this time which has been fun.  We learned a lot with working with different ones along the way but we felt it was time to just get together with us in a room and rock.  Rock is what we did! There are some firey tunes on this one!

TSI: Why did you chose to record this record at The Blasting Room in Colorado?
Greg: The question really is, “What took us so long to record at the Blasting Room?” Thats pretty much what Bill Stevenson said when we saw him recently in Denver.  We have been friends with Bill for years and fans of Black Flag and the Descendents since high school, so we are all really stoked to actually be recording with him after all these years.

TSI: After your European dates, where are you planning on touring?
Greg:: Back to Europe again in the spring then some US dates in the summer.
