TSI has seen and interviewed this Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, PA based band a few time this past year. And we are VERY honered and excited to have them as our very first, ever, ‘On The Road’ band! When we first learned about Cabinet this summer, we did what most people do. We read their bio and listen to some music online. We liked what we heard and were very interested in seeing them live at a number of the festivals we were covering as part of our Tri State Live Festival series.
Once we did see them live, it was clear just how magical this band is an the impact they have on a crowd and their fans. We see and hear a lot of music and a lot of really good live music. And Cabinet is one of those bands you MUST see live to get the full experience. With their finger pickin’ good tunes and the amazing vibes and grooves of their fans, Cabinet’s ‘whole package’ is just a feel good experience.
Cabinet is: J.P. Biondo, Mickey Coviello, Pappy Biondo, Dylan Skursky, Todd Kopec, Jami Novak
They are on Ropeadope Records and have been together 2006. Known for their bluegrass, Americana feel, some might think of them performing an older style of music, which if you really take a listen, it’s just the opposite. They bring a classic polished structure to the table with current and fresh approach. The members of Cabinet themselves are young, which we feel helps compliment and influence their twist on traditional style.
Their tour starts on Dec 1st with a band from North Carolina called, Holy Ghost Tent Revival. This six piece has a Old Crow Medicine Show feel with a lot of brass. Picture if the band, The Format, had a baby with Old Crow and what comes out is kinda like Holy Ghost Tent Revival. In a nut shell this band sounds like a good time and will be a great match up for Cabinet while ‘On The Road’.
Here’s a video interview we did with Cabinet this summer at the Stir Fry Music Revival at Snipes Farm in Morrisville, PA. Watch this now and stay tuned for their ‘On The Road’ updates!
