Chris Robinson Brotherhood will release Try Rock ‘N’ Roll- a limited edition 12″ vinyl exclusive EP featuring four cover songs- on Black Friday, November 28. Only 1400 copies of the EP will be pressed, and available soley at independent record stores, and will feature three new studio recordings and one live recording. The studio tracks will include “Hello L.A., Bye Bye Birminham,” a Delaney Bramlett/Mac Davis composition that premiered earlier this week by LA Weekly. The EP captures captures a flavor of 1950’s early rock n roll and r&b, covering the Mel Tillis classic “Goodbye Wheeling”, and the EP’s title track “Try Rock ‘N’ by Bobby Mitchell, which reached the top 20 of the R&B charts in 1956. The lone live track is the CRB’s take on “Shake Rattle and Roll“, another classic 50’s r&b track, and the hit single for both Big Joe Turner and Bill Haley & His Comets in 1954.
The Chris Robinson Brotherhood are currently on tour in California, having just wrapped up a run of four shows at Great American Music Hall in San Francisco this past weekend. They’l celebrate New Year’s Eve at Cervantes Masterpeice Ballroom in Denver. From there the band wastes not time getting back on the road in 2015, with a heavy stretch of shows through the Midwest and East Coast, even making it up to the ski town of Stowe Vermont, for a show at The Rusy Nail, as well as PA shows in Millville, Feb. 8 at Mr. Smalls Theatre, and The TLA Feb. 22.
