The Christmas Jam 2010 took place at The Sherman Theater in Stroudsburg PA. Having the honor of getting the show started was Coal Town Rounders from Scranton PA. They were setup as a 4 piece band for the show. To give you an idea of where their sound comes from, they’re a bluegrass band that is influenced by Old Crow Medicine Show, Ryan Adam and Bill Monroe, just to name a few. Mix together some tight harmonies and some skillful playing of instruments and you have the joyful sound of Coal Town Rounders.

Liquid Sunshine was the psychedelic jam band of the night. Playing the music of the Jerry Garcia Band and The Grateful Dead, it was easy to see why they were enjoyed by the crowd.

Boris Garcia is rootsy bluegrass mixed with Americana folk. They can sometime sound like Tom Petty and like New Riders of the Purple sage. But, mix in some guitar, bass, ukulele, accordion, bouzouki, a little bit of drums, some keys and a steel guitar and you have a sound like no other. Boris Garcia have  3 cd’s to their name and another due out in March.

Cabinet is the last act of the night. Having just released their second CD This is Cabinet set one to go with their first release self titled Cabinet, It did not take the crowd long to get up on their feet and into the groove. Playing many of their favorites such as “The tower”, “The Old Farmers Mill”, “Caroline” and “Elizabeth”. Their sound is getting tighter over their short time together. Mixing in electric bass more than upright bass seems to be giving them a more driving sound then they had in the past. Ending the night was an all-star jam with Cabinet, Boris Garcia, and Coal Town Rounders taking the stage to do Peter Rowans “Midnight Moonlight”.
