Corneal at Appalachian Brewing Company in Harrisburg

The other day I heard that the band Cornmeal would be coming to the Appalachian Brewing Company (ABC) in Harrisburg. I then heard that this would be one of the last shows with the Nowak brothers, Kris (guitar) and J.P (drums). Having being a fan for the few years I’m thinking I would like to see this line up one last time. Well, as it worked out, the Nowak brothers were unable to do the three show run they had coming up.

Sitting in would be guitarist Pete Kartsounes and drummer Drew Littell.  Pete and Drew had 3 days to practice and learn Cornmeals songs.  The ABC was their first live  show and you would have never known that by watching and listening to the way they played together. They kept the high energy progressive bluegrass style that Cornmeal is known for.  It is not sure if this will be the line up after the Knowak.

Cornmeal Setlist:

  • Girl in the Short Brown Dress
  • This Old Town
  • I’m Coming Back Home
  • Immigrants Life
  • Sweet Cardina
  • Shelter
  • I Know What I Know
  • The Road
  • When the World’s Got You Down

York, PA’s Hogmaw kicked things off and they had a new bass player (Kody Konrad) sitting in with them as well. Bringing what they like to call, thundergrass, was a fantastic way to warm up to for Cornmeal. Hogmaw just released their first cd Wakeand played a couple of songs from it: “No Rabbit Ears” and “Popcorn Empire.”
