Counting Crows/ Augustana/ NOTAR - Musikfest
Are the Counting Crows considered indie? Well, now days they are. Once you read on, you’ll understand why we are covering these up coming shows and doing a ticket give-away.
The Counting Crows broke off their 20 year relationship with their major label, Geffen Records, and are currently independent from any label. And from what we’ve heard about their current tour, The Traveling Circus & Medicine Show, it’s not like any other tour out there. This show consists of the Counting Crows, Augustana, and new hip hop artist, NOTAR, who is signed to Adam Duritz’s (Counting Crows frontman) label.
On this tour, instead of each band having their own set, they mix it up and play each others songs, together. This kinda gives a whole new meaning to ‘being on tour together’. We’ve seen a few shows where bands on tour join in with each other maybe on the last song of the night or for one particular song, but not where it’s the concept of the entire show.
With all of that being said, we couldn’t help our selves but to covering these up coming shows to learn more about the Traveling Circus & Medicine show. We also wanted to dig deeper into the artists on this tour. So stay tuned for our exclusive interview with NOTAR later this week.
We will be doing a ticket give -away for the Traveling Circus & Medicine Show date in Montclair, NJ, at the Wellmont Theater, on Tuesday Aug 17th. The recipient will receive 2 tickets to the show, will be briefly interviewed by a Tri State Indie journalist, and have their picture taken at the show which will post on our site!
Stay tuned for more give-away details, our interviews with NOTAR and Adam Duritz, and our post show review from the Traveling Circus & Medicine Show this Friday at Musikfest in Betheham, PA!

COUNTING CROWS is one of those bands you follow for the long haul. For those that first heard them opening for Bob Dylan long ago, or subbing for Van Morrison one memorable night at the rock and Roll Hall of Fame, much of the soundtrack of our times comes from the Crows – from their vivid musical landscapes as well as the feverish brilliance of singer/songwriter Adam Duritz. COUNTING CROWS hails from the San Francisco Bay area and consist of Adam Duritz (vocals), David Bryson (guitar), Charles Gillingham (keyboards), Dan Vickrey (guitar), Jim Bogios (drums), and Millard Powers (bass). COUNTING CROWS success dates back to their 1993 debut release August and Everything After and the hit single “Mr. Jones.” The band recently hit #1 with the song “Accidentally In Love,” which was featured on the Shrek 2 soundtrack, as well as nominations in 2005 for a Grammy Award, a Golden Globe Award, and an Academy Award for the track. COUNTING CROWS has sold over 20 million records worldwide
