It’s hard to write a good recap of a series of shows that left almost everyone speechless, so we’ll keep it short and let you guys check out the pictures. The Disco Biscuits tore through all areas of Philadelphia at the end of last month as they hosted their third City Bisco in their hometown. By all accounts, this year, the first year City Bisco was hosted as a build-up run, was arguably the best yet.
A limited number of presale fans were in attendance for opening night at the Trocadero, which ultimately turned into Chinatown’s own musical sweatbox. The temperatures were high, but so were spirits as all the bisco heads were all too amped to get the weekend going.
Friday night saw more of the same intertwining songs and raucous jams at the Electric Factory. Many I spoke to claimed Friday night was the best night of the weekend. I try not to be too persuaded by public opinion, but it’s hard to argue when all around I could see nothing but huge smiles.
Saturday night had a ton to offer. Though Orchard Lounge was unable to make it to the Mann Center for the final night, The Disco Biscuits came through the only way they knew how: they just played another set. It was no ordinary set, though, as the band played under their alias, Perfume. The OG Bisco fans were digging it. Some of the newer ones, however, somehow seemed to miss it, or just not get it.
No matter, the Biscuits second two sets brought more of what the fans came to see, including “Pygmy Twylyte”, and “Run Like Hell”. 2014 has been a huge year for Bisco performances, many touting as the best in years. They do certainly seem to be enjoying themselves, so really, no one is complaining. Check out the setlists night by night and our gallery below!
