Flaming Lips Play Show In Cemetery and Selling Heady Nuggs

TSI_NEW_LOOK_LEADERBOARD

Tickets go on sale Friday (tomorrow) for the Flaming Lips’ “Everyone You Know Someday Will Die” show at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in June.  The first night of the two day show will feature the lips playing their 1999 hit, The Soft Bulletin.  For the second night the Lips will play their rendition of The Dark Side of the Moon.

Of course, The Flaming Lips covering The Dark Side of the Moon is not a first and there have been other artists cover and reinterpret it ( roll a J and check out Dub Side of the Moon).  BUT, what other bands have done it live, in a graveyard and made it part of a two-day event?  None to my (Google’s) knowledge.  The Flaming Lips are and always will be that odd band that appears to exist on the fringes of social norms but appeals to all of us hanging out in the middle.

Along with their graveyard show and lengthy tour this summer, the Flaming Lips recently released a special edition vinly box set of their first 5 Warner Brothers Records from 1992 to 2002.  Titled Heady Nuggs, the rare box set contains rare works that have been out of press on vinyl for a decade (with the exception of Soft Bulletin). The rarity of Heady Nuggs will undoubtedly pique fans’ interests along with vinyl enthusiasts seeking to add a little weird to to their vinyl stash.
