TSI_NEW_LOOK_LEADERBOARD

TSI is delighted to cover the 51st Philadelphia Folk Festival this weekend! Our amazing TSI Executive Editor, Adam Quinn (AKA- AQ Sucka) and awesome TSI contributor, Jake Keeler, will be on location and reporting all the FEST goodness here on TSI and through our social medias.

Whether it’s your first time going to Folk Fest this weekend or you 51st time, this fest will never disappoint and a most magical time is in store. The Philly Folk fest is more than just the stellar artists who perform, it also about the amazing people who come year after year.

Some make this a family tradition. Folk Fest is a great family fest with so much for children to do, they just might have more fun than the adults.. well not quite:)  Some Fest’ers come each year looking forward to bonding with other music lovers and making new life long friends at camp, others love the sense of community and the amazing venders – which some venders each year save and prepare certain merch to only sell at Folk Fest.

Some cool things about this year’s Fest – Wanta have fun, but can’t camp and don’t want to have to worry about driving to the Old Pool Farm in Schwenksville? Take the Yards Philly to Fest Funbus! The bus will take Sunday ticket-holders from the Yards brewery at 501 N. Delaware Ave in Philly to the Main Gate of the Folk Festival. Bus tickets include a FREE draft beer in the Yards Beer Tent at the Festival. The Funbus will depart from Philly at approximately 10 am on Sunday morning and will depart from Folk Festival at approximately 10:30 pm.

WXPN’s Gene Shay will be back to host the Philadelphia Folk Festival for the 51st consecutive time. He helped put together the 1st ever Folk Festival back in the 60′s and still is the host of 88.5 WXPN’s Folk Show on Sunday nights. It just wouldn’t be FEST without Gene. So don’t despair, he’ll be there will bells on again this year.

Maybe for some reason you can’t make it to Folk Fest this year ? Don’t fret – you can listen to all the main stage performances on iradiophilly who will be live streaming all the main stage goodness.

Talk about FOLK, let’s talk about FOLK ROCK or even Rockabilly… Saturday’s set, we have to admit is kinda rockin’ this year: Little Feat, John Hiatt and the Combo, Steve Earle and the Dukes, Lucinda Williams, and rockabilly queen -Wanda Jackson, make up a day of what might turn out to be full of leather and whiskey. And we here at TSI LOVE, LOVE Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, who are Sunday’s show-closer. Trombone Shorty actually played FEST last year. So if you missed him then, you have to stay Sunday for this not to miss set.

So what are you waiting for, make your plans for FEST! You can get tickets now and still make plans to camp. You can head on in tomorrow night or head down afterwork on Friday. There are day tickets available too. For more info and tickets click here and for Fest coverage, check out TSI this weekend!
