Gold Lake is Lua Rios, Carlos Del Amo and Dave Burnett. Years was recorded at La Cabaña studios in Madrid and produced by the band. The album was engineered by Jose Nortes and mixed by Phil Ek. “Working on this album with two great people was very important to us. Jose engineered the album back in Madrid when we decided to head into the studio to lay down some of the ideas we’d been having for a while,” says Gold Lakes’ Carlos Del Amo, “and then Phil came in and made it all pretty. It was an incredible experience to watch him do his magic, his 3D signature mixing is pure perfection, plus he is the nicest guy out there.”
The band most recently released their take on Father John Misty‘s song “True Affection.” The band, big fans of J. Tillman and his new album I Love You, Honeybear, recorded the song in one take the week of its release. Flood Magazine said, “Gold Lake have given Father John Misty’s synthpop gem ‘True Affection’ a new treatment with a vintage-flavored, ethereal cover. An organ-powered drum machine and the smooth, delicate vocal layering of frontwoman Lua Rios give a fresh take to the I Love You, Honeybear standout.”
Gold Lake have toured consistently since their formation playing out in NYC as well as at festivals including LA’s Culture Collide Festival, NXNE festival in Toronto, Northside Festival in NY and Austin’s SXSW. In addition to supporting the Lumineers and Midlake the band have supported Basia Bulat, Peter and the Wolf, Ivan & Alyosha and Nada Surf.
