Three psychedelic popsters, Holiday Mountain, have released their second single off of their upcoming album You Be You.  The single, “My Body,” is a song of self empowerment in a style similar to Kimbra, St Vincent, and MIA.  Of course, the band has crafted a unique sound, and they send positive messages to the listeners through their lyrics.  If you like what you hear, you can see them at Pianos in New York City during their residency in November. Their tour dates and streaming links are below.

they’re converting standoffish hipsters into fun-loving fans” – Sonic Vault

On new song, “My Body,” front woman Laura Patiño tells us, “‘My Body’ is a self empowering song, encouraging the listener to flaunt their individual story  with a sense of pride and to make decisions from a place of self love.

Formed in 2011, Holiday Mountain is Laura Patiño (keyboard, vocals)Bradley Will (synth, bass, vocals), and Zander Kagle (drums). The group met while attending Berklee College of Music in Boston, where they were brought together by a common desire to push musical boundaries. With influences ranging from Billie Holliday and The Yeah Yeah Yeahs to M.I.A., Little Dragonand Major Lazer, Holiday Mountain skillfully mixes unconventional melodies with danceable grooves and beats that are only enhanced by Patino’s wild yet ethereal vocals.

Patiño best encompassed the energy that radiates from Holiday Mountain when, in a packed club at SXSW 2014, she exclaimed, “It’s okay to be who you are, dance hard even when everyone is looking at you, and fuck the haters.” On the new album, she tells us, “We wanted to make a record that doesn’t sound like anything we’ve ever heard before. Unconventional in all the right ways.
