James Maddock has a presence, a stature. Maybe it’s his smile or his hair. Or his enthusiasm. He wants to play, he wants to connect. I knew immediately that I would like this transplanted Briton. I knew this singer songwriter would hold my attention and make me smile. And he did. He played hard and pulled the audience into his lyrics and his emotion.
James’ music is bluesy and bold but with a soft edge that comes along with working solo. At the end of his show, I wished we had time for more. I only had one unanswered question: who was the guy playing keys? He was great and his work complimented and blended with James’ voice and songs perfectly.
