John Doe to Play Philadelphia's World Cafe Live on December 7th

John is playing World Cafe Live Dec. 7.
John Doe is one of modern music’s most authentic & enduring songwriters. A keystone of the legendary LA punk rock band X, the Chicago Tribune called him, “punk rock’s golden throat.” While touring with X during the last 30 years, Doe also cultivated his own career as a solo artist, diving head-first into alt country, folk, and gut-wrenching rock’n'roll. His latest record KEEPER, released Aug. 29 (yes, a Monday) on Yep Roc, is a glass-half-full counterpart to 2007′s emotionally damaged A Year in the Wilderness. Recorded over six months, Keeper was made with hit-making producer/mixer Dave Way and features performances alongside Patty Griffin, Don Was, Smokey Hormel, Steve Berlin, Cindy Wasserman and Jill Sobule.
“Pieces of sadness exist in everything but it doesn’t have to be the only thing. I finally figured out how to write a love song where the people actually get loved,” Doe said.
“With ‘Keeper,’ Doe beautifully balances a rocker’s heart and a poet’s soul.”– LA Times
Keeper is a record by a veteran artist who has come back from the brink with his arms full of fast and beautiful songs.
