We did get to go to the WXPN Free at Noon at the Chameleon. And it was a great way to kick off the day. The Turn out was good, the daytime beers were flowing, and the music great. It was just what we needed to get our juices going for tonight. So to continue with our ‘what not to miss’ list, here is Friday. But 1st you should shake a lil’ booty to get your groove going with WXPN’s Funky Friday, which will be hosted live by David Dye @ the Chameleon, 4pm-8pm. And this makes it very easy to catch our 1st band pick of the night!!!

Bells – 8:15 @Lizard Lounge WFNM Stage- we’re starting our night off with our partners WFNM and we are really excited to see this band. Since we are long time lovers with Explosions in the Sky and Mogwai, this band aims to please us so we are told. There is a buzz about these guys and we’re intrigued.  So we think it’s a great way to start out our night.

Like Wild – 9:30 @ Lancaster Dispensing Company- This young man is instantly likable. With his Bon Iver, Elliot Smith style vocals and Americana, indie melodies, we are excited to see how he performs live.

Toy Soldiers 9:45PM @ Lizard Lounge WFNM Stage – These guys are really fun. Swing rock and roots music mixed with an indie tip. We love it and can’t wait to see them live.

Indian Summer Jars – 10:45 @ Annie Bailey’s – This female vocal duo was included on ‘WXPN’s bands to see at Launch’ list. It’s sounds like if Natalie Merchant, Indigo Girls, and     had a baby. If you’re into singer song writer folk rock, this group will make you cream you pants.

Matt Friction of the Pink Spiders – 11:00PM @ Lancaster Dispensing Company – I think more than anything we are just curious as to what this will sound like. We do know  the Pink Spiders, who have gotten crazy press by most major music mags with their latest album available at target. They sound like OK GO with a more youthful (emo) twist vs the quirky ( weezer’ish) sound.

The Historic-11:45Pm @Gusto– we’ve heard this group is off to a great start. When we listen to their free stream on face book, it ‘s almost if Mr. Dylan or his son Jacob is signing. It’s lots of folky harmonies and fits the mold of bands like Mumford and Son and Avett Brothers. We think they are def worth checking out live in this intimate setting.

Slackwater News – 12:45AM @ Chameleon Club – Closing out our night with these guys is going to be a blast.  If you are a fan of Sunset Rubdown or Spoon, you’ll didg these guys. They have a diffent sound and have been classified as electric rock. They put on a good live show and are now getting airplay on WXPN. Shuffle you way over to catch these guys at the end of your night.

See you all soon!
