Liam Finn At Solid Sound Festival
Liam Finn hit the Courtyard D stage around 2:15 on Saturday and during his set the weekend was already starting to look up. The rain clouds from Friday were replaced by sunlight and temperate heat needless to say I was in good spirits. Liam Finn took the stage guitar in hand alongside a drummer and bassist. The trio blasted through songs off Finn’s excellent 2011 record FOMO. Finn’s energy was something to be admired and the crowd definitely responded to his tenacity. At various points in the set Liam Finn would put his guitar down and hop on a second drum kit and simply beat the shit out of it; this was a true spectacle to witness. One of the highlights for me as well as everyone else in attendance was Wilco drummer Glenn Kotche sitting in for a song (see video below).I wish I had more to say about Liam Finn’s brilliant set but unfortunately this particular show was my introduction to Finn’s work.
