M83 Begins US Tour in Philly

M83 began their US tour this week in Philadelphia at the Electric Factory – to a sold out crowd, none the less. M83 continuously stunned the audience with gorgeous visuals of vivid colors and LED lights. Along with hypnotizing visuals, M83′s performance was as close to flawless as any live band can be.
It’s rare and refreshing when you can be transported into another state of consciousness from an artist’s recorded work. Achieving this effect from a live performance is something else. It should always be an artist’s goal to show their true vision behind their music at a live show. Sadly most bands do not pull this off. However M83 sure did, their music was almost transcending.
While enjoying M83, I realized that I found myself on the mezzanine of The Electric Factory with a clear view of the entire venue. I became immediately fixated onto the lights which crossed across my eyes. I let my mind slip and lost myself into the mesmerizing screams of front man Anthony Gonzalez and band mate Morgan Kibby.
The inspirations of dreams behind their latest album Hurry Up Were Dreaming was clearly evident in the bands attitude, performance and the audiences reactions. The Electric Factory seemed to become one singularity and becomes its on entity. I – and I’m sure everyone – had no intentions of worrying about the outside world during the hour M83 was on stage. We were all locked into the sounds that were coming from the band that was on stage and being lost in the lights. M83 was able to create a personal dream for everyone at The Electric Factory last Wednesday.
