As a huge fan of rock music I have to admit, to make new and interesting variations of the genre can be quite difficult especially in the sub-genre of punk. That’s why some punk bands although claiming to sound different still sound the same. However, Moose Blood found a way to breed new life in to the punk scene. The quartet from Canterbury, England have been called emo-popcore by Mathew Davies-Kreye from A Funeral for a Friend and acknowledged by critics as being “pop-punk for a new generation” Inspired by the likes of Brand New, Tigers Jaw, Nirvana, Jimmy Eat World, and Dashboard Confessional. Moose Blood is stripped down, clean, melodic indie-tinged punk rock.
Their sound can be quite surprising since they all were involved with hardcore bands in the past. The quartet released one EP entitled Coming Home, a 7″ entitled Orlando/Boston, and a split with hardcore rock outfit Departures. The track “Girl” off the split is my favorite track from the band. It’s the one that got me hooked and I’m sure you’ll love it too. You can stream single “Girl” here

With a sound like this you can expect great things for Moose Blood in the future.
