And with that, my fantastic four is down to three. Another day for the underdog. On this day, (16) seed Lykke Li upset the (1) seed Foo Fighters. GAAH! I can’t get it right. It was a convincing 59%-41% margin of victory, too. Wasn’t even close. Oh well. And then even the Black Keys are out? by the (15) seed Kooks. Underdogs are all over this tournament. Nevertheless, lets look at some bands to watch out for tomorrow
LCD Soundsystem just yesterday beat the (7) seed Shins in a 56%-44% upset victory. Could they upset the (2) seed Clash as well? I love LCD Soundsystem and really would like to see them go far in the tournament, but just didn’t think they have been generating enough hype lately. Cinderella has a chance here, I THINK. But then again, beating the Clash is a daunting task. Can they do it? Only tomorrow will tell.
How about the Flaming Lips, too? They (a 12 seed) trounced Coldplay, the (5) seed 68%-32%. Will their success continue? Tomorrow, they face Vampire Weekend who dealt a decisive blow to Sonic Youth 72%-28% yesterday. The choice comes down to Ezra Koenig and his crew of indie-rock bliss-makers, or Wayne Coyne and his array godly freak rockers. You Choose.
Florence & The Machine eeked out a victory over the Strokes today too. Let’s just be real, the woman has pipes. Look out for her as she faces off against the Cinderella story Kooks after they ousted The Black Keys by a margin of 54%-46% earlier today. Is anyone’s Fantastic Four still in tact? If so, let me know in the comments.
Lykke Li, in perhaps the most interesting match upset the (1) seed Foo Fighters 59%-41%. It will be interesting to see if she keeps herhot streak going when she faces off with Spoon. Certainly, she has tremendous momentum right now after knocking off the (1) seed, but we’ll see tomorrow if Britt Daniel and crew are any match.
If this tournament has proven anything, it’s that the seeds don’t mean much. In two days, two a (1) seed, a (2) seed, a (3) seed, two (5) seeds, and a (4) seed have all lost. Modern Rock Madness is real! It’s mad! It’s crazy, fun and exciting. Be sure to tune into Y-Not Radio to follow all of the Madness.
