After a long day of voting, the results of the first half of the first round of YNot Radio’s Modern Rock Madness are finally in.

In the first division, Radiohead beat out The XX in the first match-up of the competition by a significant 36 percent and was followed by TV on the Radio who upset The Ramones by 14 percent.5801617

Nirvana defeated Interpol in the polls by 14 percent and will be battling The Cure, who demolished The Gaslight Anthem by 50 percent, on Wednesday.

Wednesday’s third match-up will be R.E.M against the Cold War Kids. R.E.M won against the Arctic Monkeys by 10 percent while the 14th seed Cold War Kids narrowly beat The cake_band1Clash, the division’s third seed, by four percent resulting in the day’s biggest upset.

The day’s largest win goes to Cake, who not only upset the Kings Of Leon, but did so by a whopping 60 percent. They will be facing off against Arcade Fire, who narrowly stayed in against They Might Be Giants, winning by only two percent.

In the second division, Jack White/The White Stripes came out on top of Ra Ra Riot, beating the band by 22 percent. He will be pitted against The Pixies, who beat My Morning Jacket by 10 percent, in the second round.

The Decemberists beat The National by 12 percent of the vote to secure their position in the second round. They will battle Beck in the second round after his win against St. Vincent by 28 percent.

Beating Oasis by a huge 40 percent, David Bowie will be played against the Beastie Boys, who overcame Fiona Apple by 30 percent.images

Finally, Spoon/Divine Fits will be pitted against Nada Surf on Wednesday. Spoon beat out The Killers by 24 percent while Nada Surf achieved a surprising victory against the Foo Fighters, winning by eight percent in the end.
