Mumford and Sons has recently revealed something quite surprising. After releasing two critically acclaimed albums, Sigh No More and Babelit appears that this quartet of indie-folk musicians are ready, or rather risking, a new tune.

“We definitely had a graduation to go through with the sound that we had through Sigh No More to Babel, and that sound to us feels satisfied. And that’s a sound we’ll always play. The world has been really supportive of those songs, but then there’s other sounds we want to make.” (Source: Complex Music)

Frontman Marcus Mumford reveals that they’ve turned to hip-hop star Jay-Z for advice on how to change their tune from indie-folk rap.

“And that’s a sound we’ll always play. The world has been really supportive of those songs, but then there’s other sounds we want to make. Like, hip-hop. We really want to rap. We’ve just got so much to say – saying it through a melody doesn’t really work for me. We’ve been talking with Jay-Z about it, you know. It’s gonna be a fresh experience for our band” (Source: Entertainment Wise)

This could either turn our surprisingly fresh and great or it could leave us all cringing. Is the banjo rapper friendly? I guess we’ll find out!
