TRI STATE INDIE has quickly become a recognizable brand in our region with an audience
that continues to spread world wide and grow at a very steady pace. Tristateindie.com is
currently averaging over 38,000 visits a month with 21,000 unique visits to our site monthly. TSI continues to grow at a rate of 23% each month! We are looking to create jobs in the music industry for fresh young talent. We have a knowledgeable staff, who are the best at what they do. They will be able to teach and lead a student hands on to prepare them for a full-time career with Tri State Indie or one that can be applied to many other music industry or marketing career choices..
Who should intern with TRI STATE INDIE?
Ideal candidates are journalism, PR, marketing, photography, or music industry majors/minors
who wish to pursue future careers with an online music publication or music magazine. We need
students who can take on weekly assignments and publish articles on our website. Articles would
include things like album reviews, interviews with bands, interviews with non-profit organizations and
festival promoters and reviews of live concerts and festivals. We will pay for admission to events
to be covered. You will be required to adhere to strict deadlines and report directly to the owner
of the company. There will also be opportunities to work with Tri State in event coordination and
event promotion. This could turn into a paid position for the right candidate. You will be
encouraged to think creatively and bring ideas to the table.
What type of qualifications should you have?
Must be able to take weekly direction on assignments and be able to stick to deadlines. Must be
able to handle conducting phone or in-person interviews and think creatively when generating
questions. Must love researching and educating others on new music and have knowledge of the
independent music scene. Must like going to concerts and be able to convey experiences to
readers. Must have working knowledge of all current forms of social media (Facebook, Twitter,
etc). Must be over 18, have daily access to a computer, e-mail, phone, be responsible and well
organized.
