R.I.P. TV On the Radio's Girard Smith
In a sad announcement this afternoon, TV On the Radio made a statement on the death of bassist Gerard Smith, who was diagnosed with lung cancer earlier this year. Smith joined TV On the Radio in 2005 as the band’s bass player, but was also a skilled multi-instrumentalist, adding piano, guitar, drums, percussion, and vocals to the band’s breakthrough albums Return to Cookie Mountain and Dear Science, as well as to their latest release, Nine Types of Light. Gerard Smith was an invaluable addition to TV On the radio, a talented musician, and he will be missed.
