If you weren’t at the Umphreys and Lettuce show this past Friday, then I hope you caught the performance at the Ardmore Music Hall, where Blendmode, the McLovins, and newly created Psychedelic Traffic Director all performed.
Psychedelic Traffic Director is a Trevose, PA based band formed in February, 2015. They have a unique and memorable psychedelic funky blues sound, and hopefully we’ll be seeing more of them in the future.
Philly-based Blendmore amped the energy with electronic jams that brought the Traffic Directors dancing front and center. They alternated their sound between video-game inspired dance beats to jamtronica that will sound familiar to fans of Papadosio and the like. You can expect a lot of improv jams and sounds suitable for many tastes when you listen to these guys.
When Blendmode was done blending (snare), the McLovins came out to play some more traditional rock and roll influenced jam tunes. The McLovins commanded the stage and the tempo with fast paced jamming and slow, pain-ridden breakup ballads. They’ve played at the Gathering of the Vibes, Mountain Jam, and you can catch them next at Peach Fest.
Having never seen any of these guys play before, I don’t think I was in my seat the entire night. Each of the bands brought a concise and passionate performance, and definitely worth checking out.
