River City Extension is wrapping up a breakthrough year of touring in support of their 2010 debut album, “The Unmistakable Man.” It says a lot about this eight-member, genre-defying ensemble that they were the only artist to play both the Vans Warped Tour and the Newport Folk Festival this summer; they also played well-received sets at Bonnaroo, The Bamboozle, SXSW and BOMB Fest. River City headlined clubs in select markets and supported artists including Brand New, The Get Up Kids, Steel Train, Max Bemis (of Say Anything), Kevin Devine, Alkaline Trio and The Apache Relay. “The Unmistakable Man” and the band’s ecstatic performances have earned them widespread recognition, including a Paste magazine “Best of What’s Next” profile, an NPR “Song of the Day” pick, and inclusion in Alternative Press’s “100 Bands You Need To Know 2011″ issue.
