Splintered Sunlight Rocks World Cafe for Jerry Week

Splintered Sunlight Rocks World Cafe for Jerry Week, by Steven Philips aka StSteven. The hippies (and a few regular music fans) were out in force to honor, remember, and celebrate the music of Jerry Garcia and The Grateful Dead Saturday night at the World Cafe Live in Philadelphia, where Splintered Sunlight rocked the big downstairs stage.
They played two great sets, including such Jerry and Dead classics as “Mission In The Rain” (with Butchy handling the vocals)
and “Shakedown Street” (but with “Boogie On Reggae Women” in the middle). They also threw in some fun stuff like “Blackbird” (MikeB on vocals and solo piano)
and “La Bamba”. The “China Cat Sunflower” > “I Know You Rider” encore was excellent. Enjoy the photos. A live recording of this show is available (for free!) on Archive.org (http://www.archive.org/details/SplinteredSunlightLiveAtWorldCafePhilly ), as are many other of their shows. And be sure to come out next year for Jerry Week at World Cafe Live as this tradition is a great one. And you can see Splintered Sunlight this coming Thursday 8/11 at Brownies in Ardmore, 8/12 at Bear’s Picnic, and 8/13 at the Blockely in Philly.
