Today The Floodgates release a new single, “You.” Hailing from Tunbridge Wells, London, this folk/pop group shows some influence of early Noah and the Whale and Mumford and Sons. The Floodgates’ new single begins with a bit of ambience that flows effortlessly towards a comfortable and catchy guitar lead. After hearing their new single, I am sure you will be surprised to hear that this group of kids is only in their late teens. Here is a link to stream The Floodgates new single, “You.”

Official Press Release:
The Floodgates are a young and fresh three-piece acoustic rock band, comprising Martin Stenning, Tim Fullbrook, and Alex Wane, and celebrating Mumford & Sons, Bruce Springsteen, Jeff Buckley and Tom Odell as their influences.
The group all hail from the London commuter-town of Tunbridge Wells and are to release their debut single ‘You’ on 13 October following their debut EP release earlier this year.
‘You’ is a soaring gem of a track with gently rhythmic guitar underpinning the lovelorn flurry of youth.
The trio was incarnated at the beginning of summer 2013 and a year later have plenty of successes under their belts. Originally a folk rock duo, they have now honed their craft as acoustic rock quartet.
At just 17 years old and still at school, Martin Stenning on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, writes songs from the red walls of his bedroom with all the conviction of any Dylan number. Humbly, he says “I only started dabbling with the idea of songwriting at the beginning of 2013 and alongside Tim we started with a few cover videos on YouTube.”
After a morning spent busking in London, they were invited to play at the open day of Heavyweight boxing champion David Haye’s gym, leading them to play gigs at London’s Green Note, Trinity Theatre (sellout show), ColdHarbour Festival , and headlining a number of local events.
Keen to build on their success so far, the band release their debut single ‘You’ today, for their single launch show with indie-folk outfit Feldspar was a fantastically-attended night at Tunbridge Wells Forum.
Debut EP ‘God Knows’ came out earlier this year
