The L Magazine announces dates for their 2011 Northside Festival. We covered this fest last year as part of our Tri State Live series. We had a great time and saw tons of new and upcoming bands from across the globe. We look forward to covering Northside again this summer…

The dates for the Northside Festival 2011 have been announced, and we are currently planning, prepping and booking the Music, Art and Ideas components that will be taking over Williamsburg and Greenpoint this summer, June 16-19, 2011.
We are very pleased to announce one of the newest components of Northside Festival 2011: The Do-It-Yourself (DIY) Film Competition!
Northisde Film has two components. There is the hand-picked, curated series of feature films screened for badgeholders and ticketbuyers at Williamsburg’s IndieScreen (check out last year’s lineup) and, new for 2011, there is a DIY shorts and features competition. With this year’s DIY competition, we hope to bring developing short and feature filmmakers together under one roof in an event that will help define what the DIY aesthetic. The finalists’ works will be screened at UnionDocs in Williamsburg before a mashup jury of DIY pioneers, Brooklyn celebrities and established directors. Prizes includes cash, an exclusive Northside Rooftop Screening, and camera rental packages.
