Are you hanging round the Tri State area this weekend? The Economy sucks and you’re being smart by saving your pennies this summer. Just because you’re sticking close to home instead of hitting up festivals like, $Bonnaroo$, this weekend; doesn’t mean you still can’t see great music, camp out, and have some fun. Come join us this weekend for a more intimate festival experience right in your own back yard! Snipes Farm is right in the heart of the Tri State area. About an hour from NYC and 30 mins from Philly; it’s the perfect answer to camping out this weekend and seeing live music without busting your piggy bank.
Snipes Farm is now in it’s 7th year of hosting music. They’re currently a festival venue to a few outside promoted events and also host their own in- house festivals like this weekend’s “In and Out of the Garden We Go”. Donald Dix of Gig Goals, handles the booking and promotion at Snipes Farm. We spoke with him about a month ago to find out what Snipes Farm was all about and musically, what’s happening there this summer. Don tells us Snipes is home to the oldest tree nurseries and corn maze in the US. It’s about 150 acres of CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) lands and is still an actual working farm. There’s co-op gardens, summer camps for kids to learn how to farm, and numerous events through out the spring, fall, and summer season.
Don said he’s always been a music lover, and like most of us music heads out there, he was traveling to a lot of shows and seeing really great bands. He started putting show together and the rest is really history. Don tells us most of Snipes in house events feature Grateful Dead Tribute Bands and bluegrass. They focus on family camping, cooking out, and everyone just having a really great time. Don’s done a really great job booking bands at Snipes. Blues Traveler, Keller Williams, Dave Bromberg, & Railroad Earth are just some of the names on Snipes roster. Snipes Farm has about 20 acres dedicated to music festival grounds. They can hold anywhere from 200 -3000 festival patrons at a time and have 2 different stages. There’s always a good number of different vendors for food and such and you can camp out over night for just 5 bucks!
