Lastly, I caught up with Philly’s own, Southwork.  I caught them twice, the first at Cheers Shot Bar, where they played on the roof deck.  You could tell the band was happy to be in Austin after camping their way down.  In between the two shows I went to catch some of the music and mingle at Holy Mountain, only to return to a fiasco at Maggie Mae’s.  Although sound check lasted 40 minutes too long for Southwork, they made the most of their set despite the engineer-related mishaps.

All in all a good first day.   As I have been told over and over again, it gets busier as the week goes on, so I expect tomorrow’s roundup to be jam-packed with more artists and the SXSW inside scoop.
