TSI's Ultimate Halloween Playlist

TSI_NEW_LOOK_LEADERBOARD

It’s that time of year again. A time for pumpkin ale and all of the chocolate you can eat. A time for scantily clad women with daddy issues and playful vandalism. A time when going out dressed as your favorite superhero isn’t only socially acceptable, but greatly encouraged. It’s Halloween! Because we’re feeling festive, we’ve provided a nice mix of some of our favorite spooky songs for your listening pleasure. Check out our Halloween playlist below:

1. David Bowie – Diamond Dogs
What’s a halloween playlist without a little David Bowie. Though the Jean Genie’s catalogue is filled with frightful hits, “Diamond Dogs,” with it’s spooky imagery and “Monster Mash”-ish raucousness, is a prime candidate for any October 31st celebration.

2. The Magnetic Fields – Zombie Boy
Both one of the most hilarious and disturbing songs from Stephen Merritt and co., “Zombie Boy,” tells the tale of one man’s pretty unusual relationship with the undead.

3. Sufjan Stevens – They Are Night Zombies!! They Are Neighbors!! They Have Come Back From The Dead!! Ahhhh!
Thought Sufjan Stevens isn’t exactly the most frightening musician around, the length of this song’s title should send some shivers up your spine.

4. The National – Conversation 16
Isn’t it strange that when Matt Berninger sings, “I was afraid I’d eat your brains,” you kind of want to let him?

(This cover is probably scarier because of how horrible it is)

5. Wolf Parade – Dear Sons and Daughters of Hungry Ghosts
This one isn’t too scary, but it’s a great song and its got the word “Ghosts” in the title. That counts, right?

6. Radiohead – We Suck Young Blood (Your Time is Up)
Given the world’s obsession with vampires lately, it only seemed right to a song about sucking blood on the list. Especially if that song includes one of Thom Yorke’s most haunting vocal deliveries.

7. Loose Fur – Laminated Cat
Maybe the line “Candy left over from halloween,” would apply a little better to tomorrow night, but this song is to good to leave behind.

8. Weird Al Yankovic – The Saga Begins
Don McLean’s “American Pie” dressed up as a Storm Trooper for halloween.

9. Designer Drugs – ZOMBIES!
The title is pretty self-explanatory.

10. Gracie – Sisters
This song is not actually about halloween, but the video is pretty terrifying.

11. North American Hallowe’en Prevention Initiative – Do They Know it’s Hallowe’en?
An indie version of “We Are The World,” except halloween themed. Enjoy!

Happy Halloween, Everyone!
