Listeners to vote for their top ten World Cafe® artists in the spirit of the program’s
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. July 29, 2011 – Over the past 20 years, legends such as Paul McCartney, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young and more have joined host David Dye on the World Cafe®. Norah Jones, Lucinda Williams, John Mayer and the Counting Crows are a few artists who launched their career on the program. In addition to these names, thousands of rockers, songwriters and musicians have been featured on the program which touches audiences from Philly to Guam. WXPN, the nationally-recognized leader in Triple A (Adult Album Alternative) music and noncommercial radio service of the University of Pennsylvania which produces the World Cafe®, is now looking for listeners to share their top ten “Favorite World Cafe® Artists” for the annual 885 Countdown. Listeners may visit www.xpn.org to cast their vote now through September 9th. WXPN will air the Countdown on September 26-30 as a special prelude to the month-long 20th Anniversary Celebration of World Cafe®.
Listeners who contribute to the Countdown have a chance to win a World Cafe® fan’s dream prize package that includes a World Cafe® special producer’s membership where the winner and a guest will be invited to attend six interview sessions hosted by Dye this coming year. In addition, listeners have a chance to win a 32 GB iPod Touch, courtesy of Springboard Media. The iPod Touch will be loaded with the entire Live at World Cafe® library which contains more than 500 exclusive live performance tracks, including the upcoming double disc special 20th Anniversary edition.
