The kids are out of school, the temperatures are rising and summer is in full swing, that can only mean it’s time for one of the favorite tours, Vans Warped Tour. Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, Warped Tour kicked off back in June and shows no signs of slowing down when it ends its run in August. Warped Tour has always been “the go to tour” to see hot up and coming bands, and this year is no exception.

This year boasts a lineup that includes over 80 bands on 10 different stages and over 10 hours of music throughout the day. Warped Tour began as a punk rock tour, but these days it also focuses on genres like alternative, emo, hardcore, metal and even electronic/house music. Fans of any of those genres will have plenty to see and even a chance to discover new ones, something the Warped Tour promoters take pride in.

Some crowd favorites this year include Every Time I Die, who just released their seventh studio album, From Parts Unknown on July 1st. The energy they bring to their live shows is a must see for fans in attendance. Saves The Day and Yellowcard, two powerhouses in the emo and pop punk movement, are veterans of Warped Tour and know how to get the fans to sing and bounce along during their performances. Bands that are exploding on the scene right now include The World Alive, Of Mice & Men and Issues. These bands released albums this year that cracked the billboards Top 40.

Besides the endless supply of music to fill your ears at Warped Tour there are activities to keep the fun going. Artists signing booths, merch tables, various skateboarding/clothing vendors, freebies, energy drink tasting stations and other food and beverage vendors. If the heat is getting to you Warped Tour provides free water fill ups, water missing stations and a giant slip n’ slide.

Warped Tour proves once again it is the “must see” tour of the summer. You can’t go wrong with 80 bands playing over the span of 10 hours surrounded by fans of all different genres. If you haven’t been to one of the stops I suggest you make it a point to do so, there is a reason it’s been going on for 20 years strong.
