Welcome to Fest. The Philadelphia Folk Fest: Friday & Saturday

TSI_NEW_LOOK_LEADERBOARD

Greetings from the Philadelphia Folk Fest. Tristate is currently in full festival gear: takin in some music, sampling the local fare, shooting pictures, talking to musicians and throughly enjoying our first Fest.

Never been to fest? Thats okay, we got all the coverage you need. These are some teaser shots from our experiences on Friday Night and so far this afternoon. From folktales about the night scene, bathing in a creek and of course, a lot of great music: the Philadelphia Folk Fest is definitely a true folk experience.

Bands from all over the country congregate here in Schwenksville, PA each year for the past 42 years to play their music.  As we walked around and chatted with people we quickly learned the committment the Philadelphia Folk Fest Fans have.  Many fest-goers enjoying sharing the number of years thhey have been attending. One Young female stated she has been attending for 20 years:  “Since I was four months old.”  That is serious dedication.

And there is reason to be dedicated. So far we have seen so much amazing music.  Not just acts on stage but also amongst the people.  Walking around every 3rd campsite features guitar strumming, bongo beating and harmonica playing. At night the drum circles and Camp-Site bands take over.

Some of the bands we got to see today:

-Mason Porter
-Malinky
-Kathy O’Connell with Kidz Korner
-Natalia Zukerman
-Susan Werner
-Trina Hamlin
-Treasa Levasseur
-Erin McKoewn
- of course, there are more to come…

We’ll be getting back to you with more photos later this evening of the night headliners but for now enjoy the campground bands we caught last evening and the bands that started off Saturday right.

Thanks to Gavin Sullivan for getting this killa’ shots.
