As Jazz Appreciation Month is observed in April, The Louis Armstrong House Museum has acquired recently discovered film footage of American music legend Louis Armstrong – the only known footage of him in a recording studio.

The 33-minute film was recently discovered through a buyer of abandoned storage facilities. The film was shot while Louis Armstrong recorded his 1959 album “Satchmo Plays King Oliver.” One of his daughters put the film in a storage facility with other belongings.
